I'm a Research Scientist in the Intelligent Systems Division at NASA's Ames Research Center. These days I work primarily on computer vision (especially for autonomous aerial vehicles) and radiation-hardening digital circuitry for space. I also work on modular robotcs and robot simulation, and I've been getting increasingly interested in distributed visual control of multi-agent robotic systems. Before I moved to San Francisco in 2003 I was a Research Associate in the Robotic Life Group at the MIT Media Lab, where among other things I designed the motor control system for the robot Leonardo.

When I'm not busy designing, building, or studying you can usually find me playing a game of Go, searching for the tastiest food, spinning drum'n'bass or downtempo electronica, or hiking (as in the picture of me below, taken in Wales). This website describes some of my favorite projects from the past several years. If you'd like to learn more about what I'm up to, choose a category on the left. Enjoy!
